Accessibility
Last updated September 2026
Portrait Of A Warrior Gallery Kern County is committed to serving veterans, Gold Star families, students, and community members of every ability. This statement describes our commitment both at the Gallery and on this website.
At the Gallery
Admission is free and the Gallery is open to the public during posted hours. We work to keep pathways clear for wheelchairs and mobility devices, and our volunteers are glad to assist with seating, guided narration of exhibits, or a quieter visit time. If you need a specific accommodation, including a service animal, an assisted visit, or a modified tour for a group, please call ahead at (661) 479-5095 so we can prepare.
On this website
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Ongoing measures include:
- Descriptive alternative text for portraits and photographs.
- Semantic headings and landmarks for screen reader navigation.
- Keyboard-operable navigation, links, and dialogs.
- Color and contrast choices tested for legibility.
- Layouts that reflow for phones, tablets, and magnified displays.
Some third-party content embedded on this site, such as video, maps, and the donation checkout, is controlled by those providers, and their accessibility may differ from ours.
Nondiscrimination
We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal or California law, in our programs, volunteer opportunities, or services.
Tell us about a barrier
If you encounter a barrier at the Gallery or on this site, we want to fix it. Contact us and, where possible, we will provide the information you need in an alternate format.
